+  * If you already have a norm_group layer that you are trying to update, start afresh.  Rename the existing norm_group layer something else (such as ignore:norm_group).  Then start afresh by creating a new layer.  Delete the old layer (i.e., ignore:norm_group) when you are finished and satisfied with the results of steps A & B.
 B. Open the Conditional Merge macro; do NOT select any column. Using the top option, enter norm_group into the left box (Column with cells to merge>Column Header), and enter orig_group in the right box (Merge based on >Column Header).  This will take the data in the norm_group column and make it the same span or size as in the orig_group column.  In otherwords, it will turn all your words and morphemes into bound groups
